Instructions
Unroll each dough onto a sheet of wax paper, then press or roll it into a thin, even rectangle with a rolling pin.
Ham & Cheddar:
Evenly spread mayonnaise on the dough, leaving a small border untouched
Place 6 slices of ham over the mayonnaise.
Evenly sprinkle cheddar cheese over the ham
Use the wax paper to help roll the dough away from you, sealing the end seam into the roll
Wrap the roll in the wax paper.
Ham & Swiss:
Evenly spread Dijon mustard on the dough, leaving a small border untouched
Place 6 slices of ham over the mustard
Evenly sprinkle Swiss cheese over the ham
Use the wax paper to help roll the dough away from you, sealing the end seam into the roll
Wrap the roll in the wax paper.
Refrigerate both rolls for about 30 minutes.
Cooking the Roll Ups
Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Trim the ends of the rolls, then cut them into even slices at the desired thickness
Place the slices with the spiral side up on the lined baking sheet and sprinkle with parsley
Bake at 375°F for about 18-20 minutes or until light brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
You can assemble these up to a day in advance and store them in the refrigerator until ready to bake.
Cut these rolls into different shapes using a cookie cutter before baking for a festive touch.
Ensure the dough is fully rolled out to an even thickness to prevent uneven baking.
Sprinkling a little flour on the wax paper can help prevent the dough from sticking when rolling.
If using additional fillings, ensure they are thinly sliced or finely chopped to maintain the roll’s structure.
To achieve a golden-brown finish, lightly brush the rolls' tops with a beaten egg before baking.
Allow the baked roll-ups to rest for a few minutes after coming out of the oven; this makes slicing easier and helps retain their shape.
