Get ready to gobble up the cutest Thanksgiving treat you've ever seen! These Rolo Pretzel Turkeys are not just adorable, they're also incredibly easy to make.
Begin by preheating your oven to a low 275°F (135°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Arrange 6-12 pretzel twists on each prepared baking sheet, placing them upside down.
Unwrap your Rolos and place one on each pretzel, positioning it towards the bottom to leave room for the 'feathers'.
Slide the baking sheets into the oven for about 1 minute. You want the Rolos to soften, not melt completely.
Remove from the oven and quickly press three candy corn pieces into the top of each Rolo to create the turkey's feathers.
Gently place two candy eyeballs on the upper half of each Rolo.
Add an orange or yellow mini M&M below the eyes for the beak, pressing lightly to secure it.
Use your red decorative icing to pipe a small wattle next to the beak.
Allow your turkey treats to cool and set for about 20 minutes at room temperature, or speed up the process by refrigerating for 5-10 minutes.
Repeat the process with remaining ingredients. Store finished turkeys in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Notes
Work in small batches to ensure you can assemble the turkeys before the chocolate sets.
If your pretzel twists are on the smaller side, you can trim the white tips off the candy corn to help them fit better.
For the wattle, you can also use melted red candy wafers or red frosting in a piping bag. If using melted candy, let it cool slightly before piping to prevent it from spreading too much.
Customize your turkeys by using different colors of M&Ms or experimenting with various candy decorations.
For a no-bake version, you can use a dab of melted chocolate or frosting to stick the Rolo to the pretzel instead of baking.
