This Hot Cocoa Dip combines the rich flavors of hot chocolate and chocolate cheesecake in a fluffy, no-bake dessert. Mini marshmallows and chocolate chips make it a sweet treat for holiday parties, winter gatherings, or cozy movie nights.
Place the softened cream cheese in a large mixing bowl. Beat with an electric hand mixer until smooth and creamy.
Add the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, hot chocolate mix, and vanilla extract. Beat until fully combined and fluffy, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping with a rubber spatula until evenly combined.
Fold in the mini marshmallows and mini chocolate chips.
Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Top with extra mini marshmallows and chocolate chips. Add crushed peppermint candies, if desired.
Cover and refrigerate for about 30 minutes before serving. For a softer, fluffier dip, serve immediately.
Notes
Sift the cocoa powder and powdered sugar. Lumps in dry ingredients can leave streaks in the finished dip even after mixing.Use full-fat cream cheese. Reduced-fat or spreadable versions have more water content and produce a thinner, less stable dip.Taste before folding in the whipped topping. The cream cheese base is the right moment to adjust sweetness — once the whipped topping is in, mixing more risks deflating it.Chill your serving bowl. A cold bowl keeps the dip firmer longer, especially if it will sit out at a party for more than 30 minutes.Pat strawberries dry before dipping. Excess moisture from wet fruit thins the dip on contact and makes it look watery in the bowl.
