Lemon Drop Jello Shots are a tart and sweet vodka jello shot made with lemon jello, fresh lemon juice, and topped with whipped cream for any adult party
Start by combining the lemon jello powder with ⅔ cup of boiling water in a medium mixing bowl. Whisk the mixture thoroughly until every bit of the jello powder has completely dissolved into the water. This step is crucial for achieving smooth, perfectly set shots.
Once the jello is fully dissolved, add the vodka and fresh lemon juice to the bowl. Stir everything together until the ingredients are well combined and the mixture is uniform in color.
Carefully pour or spoon the jello mixture into your shot cups, filling each one about ⅔ of the way full. This leaves room for garnishes and prevents overflow.
Place the filled shot cups in the refrigerator and let them chill for at least 2 hours, or until the jello is completely set and firm to the touch. For best results, let them set for 3-4 hours or even overnight. When you're ready to serve, top each shot with a small dollop of whipped cream and garnish with a lemon wedge if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
Use Room Temperature Vodka - Cold vodka can cause the jello to start setting too quickly, making it harder to pour into cups evenly.
Don't Skip the Boiling Water - Hot water won't fully dissolve the jello powder, which can result in grainy shots with poor texture.
Fill Cups on a Tray - Set your shot cups on a baking sheet or tray before filling them. This makes it much easier to transfer them to the fridge without spilling.
Garnish Right Before Serving - Whipped cream will start to break down in the fridge, so wait until you're ready to serve before adding any toppings.
Use a Piping Bag for Whipped Cream - A frosting tip and piping bag create picture-perfect dollops of whipped cream that look professionally done.
