Easy strawberry jello shots made with strawberry jello, boiling water, and red berry vodka - ready in 10 minutes plus 2 hours chilling time for the perfect party treat.
Start by lining your jello shot cups on a flat, movable surface like a large plate or baking sheet. This makes it much easier to transfer them to the refrigerator once filled. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the strawberry jello powder with the boiling water. Stir continuously until the gelatin completely dissolves – this usually takes about 2 minutes of stirring to create a smooth jello mixture.
Add the red berry vodka to the dissolved jello mixture and stir well to combine. The mixture should be smooth and well-blended.
Carefully fill each shot cup with the strawberry jello mixture, leaving about ¼ inch of space at the top. This prevents overflow and leaves room for optional garnishes.
Place the filled cups in the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours or until completely set. The shots should be firm to the touch when ready.
Just before serving, add your optional garnishes – a dollop of whipped cream and a fresh strawberries half make these shots look professionally made.
Notes
Use the right alcohol ratio - Don't increase the cup of vodka amount beyond what's called for, as too much alcohol can prevent the gelatin from setting properly.
Dissolve completely - Make sure the jello powder is fully dissolved in the boiling cup of water before adding the vodka to avoid any grainy texture in your jello mixture.
Chill on a flat surface - Keep the jello shot cups level while chilling to ensure they set evenly and look professional when served.
Garnish at serving time - Only add whipped cream and fresh strawberries garnishes right before serving to prevent them from getting soggy.
