Easy Watermelon Slushie Recipe (Frozen Agua de Fresca)
This Watermelon slushie recipe is a delicious frozen drink made with ice, sugar, and watermelon. A refreshing and tasty summer drink that is going to hydrate and re-fuel your body for another round by the pool or to get through you summer cookout.
Add ingredients to the blender except for fresh mint.
Blend until the watermelon is liquified and there are no longer any pieces. This takes 2-3 minutes.
Pour into a glass, and serve right away.
Expert Tip: You can blend first with water, sugar, and watermelon. Strain to remove seeds and any watermelon pieces. Then add back into the blender with ice and blend to make a smooth texture.
Notes
A ripe watermelon is needed for this recipe. Otherwise, it will lack flavor.
Go ahead and use a sugar alternative if you want. Honey, agave, or other substitutes would be welcome. Just sweeten to your preference. Or leave the sugar out.
Add other fruit, like watermelon, honeydew, etc., to the drink for layers of flavor.
The sugar will help create a nice creamy slush texture with the ice, so I recommend granulated sugar.
Leave out ice if you don’t want to make it a frozen Fresca.
