Is Acai A Fruit

Acai is a fruit, that comes from an acai palm tree. This bold berry is considered a superfood as it is loaded with antioxidants and vitamins and minerals.

Variations To Recipe

  • You can swap the coconut water with a juice like apple juice, orange juice etc.
  • If you are not dairy free, you are welcome to use regular milk or any other plant based milk replacement.
  • Toss in other fruit or vegetable to add flavor to the smoothie.
  • You can leave out the coconut oil if you would like.

Helpful Tips for The Smoothie

Here are some tips and tricks for making this clean eating smoothie!

  • I recommend making sure to make sure your avocado is ripe, to help add the right flavor to the smoothie.
  • If you do not have the frozen acai, you can use 2 scoops of acai powder to replace frozen.
  • Using a high powdered blender helps to make sure the smoothie is the perfect texture. If you don’t have one you can use a food processor in a pinch.
  • Serve immediately after making for best texture and flavor.

Recipe FAQs for Healthy Acai Smoothie

How to pronounce acai?

a-sa-e

Are acai smoothies healthy?

It all depends on the ingredients used to go with the smoothie. You will find that the acai itself is loaded with rich antioxidants and nutrients. Add in the avocado, healthy coconut oil; it is a very healthy smoothie to sip on.

Can I make this smoothie in advance?

It is recommended to serve this smoothie freshly from being made. It is going to melt a bit and become a lot thinner in texture. You will also find the smoothie has the best flavor fresh. seIf you don’t want to drink it all right away, store it in an airtight glass in the fridge for 1-2 days. Stir well before drinking. The mixture can separate a bit once it sits.

How to pick ripe avocado?

The key to ripe avocado is looking at the avocado. Make sure it is bright in color and has minimal blemishes. Then feel the avocado and make sure there are no soft spots. If you find soft spots, it could be bruised or mushy underneath. Gently squeeze the avocado in your hand. You want it to have a slight give but still feel firm. Too soft means the avocado is overripe.

Is coconut water and coconut milk the same thing?

The two are not the same thing. Coconut water is light white water that has a sweet coconut flavor. Whereas coconut milk is a milk replacement, reach for coconut water, not milk, for this smoothie recipe.
