The soft, fudgy brownie base is topped with creamy, silky smooth chocolate pie mousse filling and whipped cream to replicate that traditional french silk pie flavor. And if that weren’t enough, we studded in shaved chocolate for an extra decadent touch. You’re Welcome!

- Do you prefer pie or brownie for dessert? You don’t have to pick any more. This dessert is a two-for-one deal! The bottom of the dessert is a chocolate fudge brownie and the top is a chocolate mousse silk pie filling. In one mouthful, you get to enjoy two chocolatey decadences!

What You Need To Make This French Chocolate Mousse Silk “Pie” Brownie Recipe
- fudge brownie mix
- baking chocolate or milk chocolate chips
- butter
- cream cheese
- confectioner’s sugar
- tub whipped topping
How to Make French Silk Brownies
- Prepare the brownie mix according to the box directions. Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to fully cool. (Photos 1 & 2)
- In a large mixing bowl beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until fully combined. Then fold in the whipped topping.
- In a microwave-safe bowl add chocolate and butter (cut butter into small cubes allowing it to melt more evenly. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, stir and then microwave in 15-second increments until chocolate and butter have melted and are smooth.
- Add the melted chocolate to the cream cheese mixture and stir until fully combined. (Photo 3)
- Spread the French silk topping on the brownies and refrigerate until set, about 2-4 hours. Once brownies are set cut into squares and top with additional whipped cream and chocolate if desired. (Photo 4)
Storage
Any leftover brownies should be wrapped tightly in plastic wrap or stored in an airtight container. Refrigerate for a maximum of five-seven days after preparing the dish. This dessert can be stored in the freezer for up to three months. It needs to be defrosted before being served.
Substitutions and Variations
- If you don’t have chocolate shavings on hand, use small chocolate chips instead.
- You can make your own homemade brownies instead of using a boxed mix for the Silk Pie Brownie.
- You can also use your own homemade whipped cream.
- You can also add crushed macadamia or almond nuts on top of the whipped cream. This adds crunch and texture to your Silk Pie Brownies.

Yes, you can make your own brownie mix if you have plenty of time. However, if you are in a hurry, you may just opt to buy a box mix instead.
Adding a little espresso powder to the whipped cream is optional, but it tastes great. Although the dessert won’t taste like coffee, the espresso powder does help bring out the chocolate’s flavor even more so.
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours and up to 24 hours before serving. You’ll have a bit of a mess in your pan if you cut the brownies too soon. The filling only settles and holds its shape well after refrigeration.

- 8 oz (226 ⅘ g) cream cheese room temperature
- 2 cups (240 g) confectioner’s sugar
- 16 oz (453 ⅗ g) tub whipped topping thawed
