Make Sure to Use Ripe Avocados!
We all know the pain of picking out the perfect avocado at your local grocery store and then missing that fleeting window of ripeness. This will help you make sure your avocado is ripe when you’re ready for it.
The ripest avocados typically have darker skins. So if you’re getting ready to make your tasty mango habanero guacamole soon, pick one that has dark skin.
Once you’ve eyed the avocados and chosen a dark one, go ahead and give it a squeeze. The best avocados are soft. If it’s rock hard, give it a pass.
Once you’ve identified a promising avocado, take a look at its stem. Does it still have one? If it does, is it easy to remove? If it isn’t easy to remove, go ahead and leave it and move on to another avocado. If it falls away, you should see some light green inside and you’re ready to go.
If you can’t find a good and ripe avocado, don’t fret! I’ve got a trick for making your avocado ripen faster.
Once you’ve selected an assortment of almost-there-but-not-quite-ripe avocados, put them into a paper bag with a ripe banana. I’m sure you’ve found that ripened bananas tend to help other fruits ripen faster (whether you want them to or not).
Pairing your unripe fruit with a ripe banana is an easy and quick way to make sure your avocados are ripe and ready for your party!
Guacamole is one of the best foods out there. It’s healthy, delicious, and you’ll literally never get tired of the different ways you can change it up.
