Cheesy Taco Casserole Bake FAQs

Can I use ground turkey, pork, or chicken instead of beef in this recipe?

Absolutely! You can use whatever ground meat you have on hand, and it will still come out tasty. Even a vegan meat substitute would work well because taco seasoning is such a potent combination of spices it really takes hold to any meat or non-meat that you choose to use.

Can I make this a gluten-free recipe by using corn tortillas instead of crescent rolls?

Yes, if you want to replace the crescent rolls with some gluten-free corn tortillas, you can! The corn tortillas will be soft but still just as tasty!

What type of cheese would you recommend for this recipe?

If you don’t have a pie plate feel free to use a 9 x 9 baking dish or one of a similar size. You’ll need to keep an eye on it as the cooking time may vary depending on the size of your dish, and you don’t want to burn your crust!

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

Of course! Feel free to prepare the ground meat for this casserole up to baking it and store in an airtight container. When you are ready, all you’ll have to do is layer the crescent rolls on the bottom of the baking dish top with the ground meat and cheese and bake!
