Substitutions and Additions

  • Garnishes: While I used a cinnamon stick to top my decadent cocktail, you can also use a star anise, a sprinkle of ground cinnamon, a little nutmeg, or even a toothpick with maraschino cherries.
  • Peppermint: Love peppermint? Swap out the cinnamon stick and use a candy cane instead.
  • Vodka: If you want to get creative, you can use flavored vodka. I like to use vanilla vodka at times.

Recipe Tips

  • For best results, I recommend using quality vodka such as Grey Goose. It adds a nice flavor to your cocktail.
  • Use chilled ingredients if you are not using ice and want a cold drink.
  • You can also chill your glass for about 30 minutes before serving. This will help keep your drink cold.
  • I like to break the cinnamon sticks up into two pieces since they can be pricey.
  • If you want a beautiful layered look, pour the ingredients in slowly so they don’t mix.

Storing Tips

  • Refrigerator: This drink is best made fresh. However, you can mix a large batch and store it in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
  • Storage container: If you are planning to make this cocktail ahead, you will need to use an airtight glass container. A glass pitcher or mason jar will work great. Do not use metal containers.
