Recipe Ingredients

See the recipe card below for a complete list of ingredients and measurements.

Coke, Crown Royal, grenadine, cherries, ice tray, straws on a wooden surface.

Ingredient Notes:

  • Crown Royal – This Canadian whiskey provides a smooth base for our slushie. Its vanilla and oak notes pair perfectly with cherry cola.
  • Cherry Coke – Adds sweetness and that classic cola flavor. You can use diet soda if you prefer.
  • Grenadine – Enhances the cherry flavor and adds a beautiful color to your drink.
  • Ice – Creates that perfect slushy consistency. Use crushed ice for the best texture.

Substitutions and Additions

  • Whiskey Options – While Crown Royal works best, try your favorite whiskey or bourbon for a different flavor profile.
  • Soda Choices – Regular Coke or ginger ale can work instead of Cherry Coke.
  • Garnish Ideas – Add maraschino cherries, fresh mint leaves, or an orange slice for extra flair.

Recipe Tips

  • Use crushed ice for a smoother blend.
  • Don’t over-blend or your slushie might become too watery.
  • Chill your glasses beforehand for an extra-frosty drink.
  • For the best slushy consistency, use very cold soda.

Storing Tips

  • Storage: These slushies are best enjoyed fresh.
  • Make Ahead: You can pre-mix the liquid ingredients and store in an airtight container.
  • Freezing: Don’t freeze the mixed slushie; the texture will become icy.
  • Large Batches: If making for a party, blend in batches as needed rather than all at once.

Recipe FAQs

Can I make this without alcohol?

Yes! Simply skip the Crown Royal and add extra Cherry Coke for a virgin cherry cola slushie.

How can I make this for a crowd?

Multiply the recipe by the number of servings needed, but blend in batches to maintain the perfect slushy consistency.

Why isn’t my slushie thick enough?

Add more ice gradually while blending until you reach your desired consistency. Using crushed ice helps achieve the perfect texture.

Can I use a different type of whiskey?

Absolutely! While Crown Royal gives this drink its signature taste, any quality whiskey or bourbon will work well.
