  3. Pipe a thin base of frosting on each cupcake. (Photo 1)

  6. Place desired sugar decorations on top. (Photo 2)
  7. Add umbrella if desired.

Storage

Keep cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. If you have any frosting leftover, it can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Tips

  • Use your favorite cupcakes to make these. Or you can save time and use store-bought unfrosted cupcakes.
  • If you can’t find sanding sugar, you can use regular blue sprinkles.
  • You can also use different colors of frosting to match your party theme. Try pink for a pool party or green for a luau!

Substitutions and Variations

If you want to make sand on these cupcakes you can use crushed graham crackers.

Another way to top these cupcakes is by sticking a teddy graham into a peach gummy ring.

Swedish Fish also makes for a great Beach Cupcake idea. Just place them on top of the frosting before it sets and they will stick.
