Tips from our Recipe Developer

  • Use a flavorful mixer: Instead of plain water, try using fruit juices or sodas as a mixer to add more flavor and depth to your jello shots.
  • Be creative with the alcohol: Vodka is a popular choice for jello shots, but don’t be afraid to experiment with different types of liquor, such as rum, tequila, or schnapps.
  • Use condiment cups for easy serving: Small plastic condiment cups are the perfect size for jello shots, and they make it easy to transport and serve the shots at parties or gatherings.
  • Chill thoroughly: Be sure to refrigerate your jello shots until they are fully set and firm, usually for at least 2-4 hours or overnight. This will help them keep their shape and make them easier to eat.
  • Get creative with presentation: You can customize your jello shots by using different colors, flavors, or even adding a garnish. For example, you could top them with whipped cream or fruit slices.
  • Enjoy in moderation: Remember that jello shots are a fun way to enjoy a cocktail, but they can be potent. Be sure to pace yourself and drink responsibly.

Storing Tips

Refrigerator

To store Jello shots, you can place them in a covered container or wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate them until you are ready to serve.

It is best to keep them in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve, as storing them at room temperature can cause them to melt and lose shape.

Freezing

While it is technically possible to freeze Jello shots, it is not recommended as the texture and consistency of the Jello may change. Freezing can cause the Jello to become hard, making it difficult to consume.

If you must freeze Jello shots, make sure to do so in an airtight container and let them thaw in the refrigerator before serving. However, it is always better to make and serve Jello shots fresh so they are at their best in terms of flavor and texture.

What To Serve With Rum Shots

Jello shots are often served as a fun and festive addition to parties and gatherings. If you’re wondering what to serve with jello shots, here are some ideas:

  • Finger foods: Jello shots are often served as a party snack, so it’s a good idea to pair them with finger foods that are easy to eat and share, such as chip dip, crackers, and cheese, or mini sandwiches.
  • Light appetizers: You could also serve light appetizers to complement the sweetness of the Jello shots, such as a charcuterie board, fruit bowl, or bruschetta.
