Ingredients For Christmas Oreo Balls

Oreos, cream cheese, Twizzlers pull n peel. and mini peanut butter cups sitting on a countertop.
  • Twizzlers Pull N Peel: These are fun, easy-to-eat candies with a unique texture that makes them an exciting addition to any easy recipe. They add a chewy consistency and a pop of color to the dish.
  • Mini Peanut Butter Cups: Packed with the creamy richness of peanut butter and the smooth sweetness of chocolate, these mini cups provide a delightful flavor contrast.
  • White or Colored Candy Wafers: These offer not just an additional sugary touch but also allow for creativity in decorating, giving the final product a visually appealing look.
  • Oreo cookies: These iconic cookies add a crunch factor to the recipe, complemented by their distinctive blend of chocolate and cream flavors.
  • Cream cheese: It contributes a velvety texture to the dish while introducing a mild tangy flavor that balances the sweetness of other ingredients.
  • Christmas Sprinkles: While not mandatory, these can be used to infuse a festive vibe into the dish, making it even more appealing to the eye and perfect for holiday gatherings.

Substitutions and Variations

  • Any color of chocolate you have available works great, from milk chocolate to white chocolate chips. Colored melting candy would also work.
  • Substitute Twizzlers with gummy bears, candy canes, or rainbow candy if you want a different look.
  • Sprinkles are not essential, but they do add a nice final touch.
  • Try mint Oreos for a little extra holiday flavor!

  • Only dip balls (not the mini peanut butter cups) into the melted chocolate, and add sprinkles immediately. Remove toothpicks and replace them with Twizzlers. (Photos 6, 7 & 8).

Expert Tips

  • If working with small children or preparing a lot of these I found it easier to use a skewer (creates a larger hole) in the peanut butter cup.
  • After dipping the ball and adding sprinkles, place the completed peanut butter cup on the truffle and allow it to set in the fridge for 20 min on wax paper to prevent sticking.
  • If the Oreo truffles start to soften too much when you are dipping them, then place them back in the freezer.
  • If dipping in white chocolate, be careful not to splash any of the melted candy onto the peanut butter cup. If it does happen, just wipe it off quickly before it dries with a damp paper towel.
  • Make sure you store them in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Storing Tips

Place in an airtight container and keep refrigerated. They can be eaten immediately, but they taste best after sitting in the refrigerator overnight.

These Oreo truffles freeze really well. Make sure they are wrapped tightly in plastic wrap, and then place them in a freezer ziplock bag to prevent freezer burn.

What To Serve With Christmas Oreo Balls

These Christmas Oreo Balls can be served as a standalone dessert or paired with other holiday sweet treats. For a full dessert table spread, consider serving them alongside classic holiday cookies, gingerbread, and a warm beverage like hot chocolate or mulled wine.

They also pair beautifully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an added indulgent touch. If you’re hosting a holiday party, these festive truffles can be part of a dessert buffet, complementing cheesecake, fruit pies, and a variety of holiday-themed cupcakes.
